This Privacy Policy explains how Flickie (“Flickie,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at flickie.xyz (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Flickie is an independent project operated by a single individual. We try to collect as little information as possible and to be straightforward about what we do with it.

What information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

1. Information from Google Sign-In. Flickie lets you sign in using your Google account. When you do, Google shares a limited amount of information with us, which typically includes your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique Google account identifier. We use this to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password, and we cannot see or access your broader Google account.

2. Your activity on Flickie.When you use the Service, we store the votes (“Flicks”) you cast in head-to-head matchups, and a count of your total Flicks. This is what powers your account and the Service’s rankings.

3. Basic technical information. Like most websites, our hosting and backend providers may automatically process limited technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) as a normal part of delivering and securing the Service. We do not use this information to build profiles of you.

We do NOT:

• Use advertising or marketing trackers.
• Run visitor analytics tools that profile individual users.
• Sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
• Share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

How we use your information

We use the information above only to:

• Create, secure, and manage your account.
• Record your Flicks and calculate rankings and your personal stats.
• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Respond to you if you contact us.
• Comply with legal obligations if they arise.

How your information is stored and who helps us run Flickie

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf so we can run the app:

• Google — provides the sign-in system (Google OAuth).
• Supabase — provides our database and authentication infrastructure, where your account and Flicks are stored.
• Vercel — provides our website hosting.

These providers have their own privacy and security practices. We share information with them only as needed to run the Service, not for their independent use.

How long we keep your information

We keep your account information and activity for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your associated personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Your choices and rights

You can:

• Access or correct your information by contacting us.
• Delete your account by contacting us at the email above, after which we will remove your associated personal data.
• Stop using Google Sign-In at any time by ceasing to use the Service.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data (for example, under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California). To exercise any such rights, contact us at the email above and we will do our best to honor applicable requests.

Children’s privacy

Flickie is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and our infrastructure providers maintain their own security protections. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and post the revised policy on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
